Two major earth quakes today rattle Nepal,India hundreds feared trapped

New Delhi: A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.9 on Richter scale and a major aftershock of 6.6 struck Nepal on Saturday. The quakes also jolted parts of North and Northeast India. Widespread damage is being reported from Nepal.

Here are the live updates:

• There are reports of avalanches at the Mount Everest. Base camp of mountaineers is also reported to have been hit.
• Many historic temples have also been reduced to rubble in Nepal, say reports.
• Kathmandu airport has been shut post the earthquake; all flights have been diverted to India
• Earthquake in Delhi. I appeal to people to maintain calm. Officials out in the field to assess the situation – Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal tweets
• A part of building has collapsed in Siliguri, West Bengal, due to the quake, reports ANI.
• Nepal's Lamjung, the epicentre of the quake, has reportedly flattened and only few buildings there are believed to be standing.
• There are reports of cracks developing at the airport in Kathmandu.
• Dharahara Tower / Bhimsen Tower, a 19th century nine-storey tall tower in Kathmandu, has collapsed, say reports. Nearly 400 people are believed to be trapped.
• Reuters is reporting at least two deaths in the Nepal quake so far.
• The PMO has also spoken to the Indian Embassy in Bhutan in the wake of the earthquake. Embassy is in touch with top Bhutan officials as well – PMO tweet
• PM Modi has spoken to Sikkim CM Pawan Chamling, Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav in the wake of the earthquake.  
• PMO has tweeted that PM Modi has convened a high-level meeting with ministers and top officials at 3 pm today in the wake of the situation arising due to the earthquake.
• PM Modi has instructed Rajiv Pratap Rudy to take stock of situation in Bihar/UP districts along Nepal border.

• On instructions of PM Modi, all disaster management mechanisms have been activated in districts of Bihar/UP along Nepal border.
• News agency IANS has reported that at least one person was killed when an old building collapsed in the premises of the Indian consulate in Kathmandu. The dead person was a Nepalese national, according to a Nepal-based journalist.

• The USGS has upgraded the magnitude of the first Nepal earthquake to 7.9 with a depth of only 2 kilometres, reports Reuters.
• Dozens of people with injuries are being rushed to the main hospital in central Kathmandu. There are however no immediate estimate on fatalities.
• News agency Associated Press is reporting that walls have toppled and buildings have collapsed in Kathmandu.
• Authorities are not ruling out more aftershocks.
• Sources say major damage is expected at the epicentre of the quake.
• Information is being collected from all districts, everyone is on the field - Nitish Kumar
• Bihar CM Nitish Kumar has asked the state administration to asses the situation following tremors.  
• The quakes were also felt in parts of Nepal, say reports.
• Stampede has been reported from Kutchery in Varanasi following the earthquake. More details are awaited.
• Tremors were also felt in North India, in cities like Delhi and Jaipur - Rathore
• The aftershock was of 6.6 magnitude and epicentre was at around the same place at Lamjung in Nepal - Rathore
• The intensity of the initial quake was 5 in Delhi - Rathore
• Earthquake of magnitude 7.5 was felt in north-west of Kathmandu, intense tremors felt in Bihar and West Bengal - LS Rathore, DG, Met department
• The BBC reports some buildings have been damaged in the quake in Nepal but there has been no initial word on any casualties.
• Earthquake of magnitude 7.5 occurred today at 11.41 am between latitude 28.1 North and Longitude 84.6 East. The epicentre was located in Nepal, an IMD statement said.

• Delhi Metro services were briefly suspended after the quake.

• There are reports of widespread damage in Nepal.
• People were seen rushing out of their homes and offices.
• The tremors in Delhi were felt for over a minute.
• In India, tremors were felt in Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim.

• The magnitude of the quake in Nepal was recorded at 7.5 on the Richter scale, as per the USGS.
• As per the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the epicentre of the quake was Lamjung in Nepal, 77 kilometres north-west of capital Kathmandu. The depth of the quake was 10 kilometres.
• A major earthquake has struck the North and Northeast India just before noon.

Fast and Furious 8 Gets 2017 Release Date and Cast

After "Fast and Furious 7" and its record breaking box office haul, talk about the next franchise film has been heating up.

The next entry in Universal's blockbuster Fast & Furious franchise has been scheduled for April 14, 2017. The news was revealed during the studio's CinemaCon presentation, following an emotional speech by Vin Diesel.

"We're going to make the best movie you've ever seen," the actor said when announcing the release date.

Diesel, star of the franchise, came to the stage to talk about the most recent hit. He got emotional when speaking about his friend Paul Walker, who died before Furious 7 was completed.

"The last time I was on this stage I was with my brother Pablo,” he said. “It’s hard for me to even watch that clip and then come out here without being emotional."

The seventh entry in the franchise has already broken box office records worldwide, so far nabbing more than $1.1 billion globally.

"Furious 8" Location Revealed?

One series insider has moved past speculation over the next movie and has provided his thoughts on where the unconfirmed film may be shot. Wrestler-turned-actor Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson told MTV, per The Morning Call, in a recent interview that he believes the movie will be set in New York City.

The site also noted that Vin Diesel disclosed while on "Jimmy Kimmel Live" that "Furious 7" was actually the beginning of a trilogy that would feature government agent Mr. Nobody (Kurt Russell).

 "I always think of these films, multiple pictures, in advance. I think of them as trilogies," teased the actor regarding a potential eighth film. "Kurt Russell came in for [Furious 7] but we really hired him because of a story that follows this, that takes place in New York."

Google Glass Next Version Will “Be Out Soon,” According to Report

According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, the next generation google glass may be just around the corner, apparently made in direct partnership with Luxoticca, an Italian eyewear maker.

Massimo Vian, CEO of Luxoticca, recently said in a company meeting in Milan that the partnership with Google is moving forward, and that the next version will “be out soon.” 

An exact date or timeframe was not given, but with Google outsourcing possible design elements for Glass, consumers may be in for a much more fashion-friendly face computer.

The next version of google glasses should have improved battery life, a better display, better sound, and will most importantly feature a lower price tag for consumers.

Tom Cruise Was Scared Over Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation Plane Stunt

Tom Cruise hung off the side of an airplane a death-defying eight times for the most memorable stunt in the upcoming “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” the actor revealed to theater owners at CinemaCon.

The sequence required the star to an Airbus A400M as it soared 5,000 feet in the air, something that necessitated wearing special contact lenses so he could keep his eyes open despite the wind pressure.

“I’ve always wanted to do that,” Cruise quipped, as he presented behind-the-scenes footage of his air flight, adding, ” I want to keep audiences on the edge of their seats.”

In past “Mission: Impossible” films that’s resulted in Cruise scaling mountain peaks or hanging along the exterior of the Burj Khalifa. But this may have been his most dangerous mission yet. Cruise admitted that the crew did their best to make certain that there were no birds that could collide with the actor or jet fuel fumes to contend with, but at a certain point…it was up to the fates.

“I’m actually scared sh–less,” Cruise said.

The behind-the-scenes look at the signature stunt was part of Paramount’s presentation of its upcoming slate of films. The studio also screened two nearly finished scenes from the film, one that showed a shirtless Cruise drugged and hanging from a lead pipe as he’s beaten by a muscled bad guy called the bone doctor.

Direct Message Anyone on Twitter Now, Even if They Don’t Follow You

As it was Before, for Twitter accounts that are not verified, you could not send them a direct message (DM) unless that specific account followed you. In turn, no one could message you unless you followed them. Now, Twitter has removed these restrictions, allowing anyone and everyone to share DMs. 

Here is a change of exactly what is new.

• A setting that allows you to receive Direct Messages from anyone, even if you don’t follow them. To change your settings follow these instructions.

• Updated messaging rules so you can reply to anyone who sends you a Direct Message, regardless of whether or not that person follows you.

After suffering an injury last month that shut down production of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” has returned to the film’s Australian set — an occasion producer Jerry Bruckheimer marked with the release of the first photo from the Disney sequel.

“Captain Jack is back and we’re not letting him go,” he tweeted.

In this film, the adventures of Depp’s Captain Sparrow take him on a search for the legendary trident of Poseidon. The cast also includes Javier Bardem, who is new to the franchise.

[UPDATE] Telangana TS Inter 1st year results 2015 announced

The Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) of Telangana is likely to announce the TS Inter First (1st) Year results 2015 tomorrow on 22 April at 11 am and the Telangana Intermediate 2nd year results 2015 on 29 April.

The BIE regulates and supervises the system of intermediate education in the state of Telangana. It executes and governs various activities that include “devising of courses of study, prescribing syllabus, conducting examinations, granting affiliations to colleges and, providing direction, support and leadership for all educational institutions under its jurisdiction.”

The vision of BIE is to promote world-class education through ‘quality leadership, support and services’ with an aim to improve the education standards in the state.

As per their website bie.telanagna.gov.in, the other important functions of the Board are:

•     To prescribe syllabi and text books.
•     To grant affiliation to the institutions offering Intermediate course.
•     To lay down regulations for the administration of Junior Colleges.
•     To publish text books
•     To prescribe qualifications for teachers.
•     To conduct academic inspection of Junior Colleges.
•     To conduct examinations.
•     To process results and to issue certificates.

Apart from these above mentioned activities, examination is another most important function of the BIE Board. Every year it conducts the Annual Examination (in March/April) and the Advanced Supplementary Examination (in June/July).

Tomorrow is the day when the BIE will end the suspense for a lot of students by announcing the Telangana TS Inter First (1st) year exam results 2015 at 11 am. Students can log on to the official website of the board to access their results online.

1. Firstly visit official web portal of BIE Telangana State- bie.telanagna.gov.in 

2. After that just click on result link and enter your roll number and click the submit.
3. Your result will be displayed on your computer screen.

Android 4.5 May Break Compatibility with Many Current Root Apps

Much of Android's development is done out in the open, which is how several Android developers noticed that a recent commit to the Android Open Source Project master tree would break many of your favorite root apps. This is the result of a newly implemented security feature, rather than an active effort to lock things down on Google's part.

A little over a week ago, a pair of commits were made to the AOSP master tree that essentially prevent SU from executing files stored on the /data partition. This is an issue because many (but not all) current root apps include files that are extracted to and executed from app-specific directories on this partition. As such, if these commits are not reverted, a large number of current root-enabled apps will need be updated in order to work with this new version of Android.

So if you’re an app developer responsible for creating root-enabled apps, how can you get around these changes? Well, XDA Senior Recognized Developer Chainfire has you covered with a few potential workarounds that were added to his How-To SU page. These workarounds include extracting the code and running it from RAM or rootfs, piping commands directly to SU, and so on.

Now, it’s important to keep in mind that these two commits may be reverted before the release of the next version of Android. Furthermore, if they are retained, it’s anybody’s guess as to the actual version number of this upcoming revision. That said, it’s obviously best to be safe rather than sorry so that you can save yourself and your users the hassle later.

The @evleaks has offered up another look at Samsung's alleged UI experimentation, this time showing what would appear to be predictive search or information cards, similar to those offered by Google Now. Split into two parts, the collection shows everything from home temperature automation to exercise tracking to flight info, package tracking, appointments, and plenty more.

What differentiates the cards from Google's own service (design aside) is apparent social integration beyond birthdays and commutes. We can see, for example, evidence of check-in or location sharing and media sharing alongside the other cards.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite specs, photos leaked

Samsung unveiled its new line of professional-grade tablets at the Consumer Electronics Show this year, it did not showcase any smartphones. However, the launch of the rumoured Galaxy Note 3 Lite seems imminent, with several photos and specifications of the model leaking online.

 Until the device is officially launched by Samsung, the name is sort of up in the air. Just a couple of days ago, it was reported that the Note 3 Neo would sport a hexa-core processor, a new variation of ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture – with two 1.7GHz cores coupled with four 1.3GHz cores. For what’s being labeled as a cheaper version of the regular Galaxy Note 3, that is quite the move by Samsung. 

In these newly-leaked photos from SamMobile, we can see that the Note 3 Neo will feature a slightly smaller display (5.55″) than the Galaxy Note 3 (5.7″), but the overall design is pretty much the same. There will be faux leather, an S Pen, and the TouchWiz UI. As for internals, the Note 3 Neo is said to sports 2GB of RAM, an 8MP camera, a 3,100mAh battery, and a microSD slot for additional storage.

Earlier reports and posts stated that Samsung could wait for MWC to launch this device, but with pictures now making the rounds, we wouldn’t be surprised if Samsung just announced the device with a press release. While the hexa-core chip is neat, it doesn’t necessarily warrant its own fancy unveiling event.

Nokia “Normandy” Reportedly the Company’s First Android Device

When Microsoft initiated a purchase of Nokia back in September, a lot of Android fans let out a defeated sigh: there was no way the company would ever release Android-powered hardware. Well hold on to your dreams, true believers, because multiple leaks indicate that a new Nokia phone will indeed run Google's open-source OS.

An image posted back in November by @evleaks, which showed a red Nokia device, is now being reported as the company’s first step into the Android realm. As reported by The Verge, the device, which is codenamed Normandy internally, is supposedly set to launch in 2014 running a forked version of Android – much like Amazon does with its Kindle line of tablets. According to one source inside Nokia, Normandy is “full steam ahead.” 

The device is said to be a low-cost unit, allowing those at lower income levels to have full access to helpful applications and mobile Internet capabilities. As of right now, it apparently supports Skype (naturally) and other popular Android applications.

What makes Nokia’s interest in the Android OS a bit more interesting, is that Microsoft recently announced the purchase of Nokia, but the deal is still not completely finalized. From what the new report states, Nokia could look to push this device out before Microsoft attempts to axe its plans, given that it is safe to assume that Microsoft would rather push its Windows Mobile OS instead of helping Google any further in emerging markets.

In any case, the Normandy is a project from a very different company than the one Nokia is now, or will be later. Even if it is released, and it does run Android, it certainly won't herald a change for the company at large. Nokia's more widespread devices in all segments of the mobile market will run Windows, and only Windows, in the immediate future.
